All that crawling, sad eyes, petted lip and yes dear, of course dear, fathers day and any other excuse I could find has paid off, and permission obtained to order the Anycubic Photon 3D DLP printer. Also ordered a UV nail lamp, which Morag can borrow if given enough notice, to cure the prints, those from sunnier climbs could just put them outside, in Scotland they'd wash away. And 5 litres of IPA, to wash off the resin. Due to arrive between Wed and next Monday from Germany. That may just leave enough time to tidy the bench up. Now time to research the types of resins to use. Paul
Hi Bob Have you tried any other resins with the Anycubic yet ?. I'm looking to order some and wondered if you are just using Anycubics own brand or have played with other makes.
Hi Paul no I haven't tried any other resins. I haven't had time to use the printer much since I got it. So I am still on the original bottle. Be seeing you Bob
And in High Definition as well IT'S HERE All the way from China via Germany - which means it has an EU plug on it, but as this is a standard kettle lead that is quickly sorted. Now this takes packaging to a new level - it could probably survive Aus post. The cat wasn't supplied otherwise I'd have tempted to send it back - but acting as chief supervisor, in the top layer we have First row - Quality Control inspection card, After sales service card, Manual and spare FEP film Second row - Mains lead (EU plug), Accessory with tools, gloves and face mask, 4GB usb stick, hex driver, 250g Anycubic Green Resin and a 12V psu. Removing the printer from the box it is fully encased in HD foam The casing is metal with coloured UV resistant windows - all with protective covers still in place. Opening the lid (not too easy as a rare earth magnet is used to keep it closed), reveals even more packaging Which holds the build plate within With the packaging finally removed We can see the Resin reservoir. Now we come the the self assembly part - I had to install the door handle, but full instructions are provided Even I managed that one without reading the instructions Next up set up the printer, now with FDM 3D printers this can be a pain, with bed leveling etc etc, this was simple enough that even Toto could do it (sorry mate). Power on the printer, raise the Z axis, remove the Reservoir, fit the build plate, and slacken the lock screw. Press the Home button to lower the head, insert a piece of paper (I used 80gsm printer paper), then lower the head 0.1 mm at a time until you feel the paper being gripped but can still be moved. Tighten the build plate lock screw, then press the Z=0 button and your done. It takes longer to describe than to do the task, unlike bed leveling on an FDM printer. The printer now just needs resin adding for its first print And with the door closed Just got to download the slicing software and then play - but that will have to wait until at least tomorrow. Paul
Looks impressive, don't know what the hell it does ........but looks impressive. I think I need me of them ...... What they do again ?
Tried to make coffee with it, but didn't heat the water, so I will give it ago with 3D printing, no doubt when you return and sober up the ideas of what you want making will start and flood in. Visitors this evening so haven't had a chance to play, soon tho'. Paul
That just proves you are a real man ! Instructions are just another form of packaging material ! Cheers, Gary.
