Paul the porthole is coming along great, those signs are very nice made, painted and then weathered. Great job.
Amazing work particularly the signs that look so realistic. Do you have your own laser cutter? I had thought about getting one but they are quite expensive.
Thanks Mark for your kind comment, the portal surrounds are cut from 6mm MDF and the add on pieces are laser cut in either 3mm or 2mm sections. If you compare the original tunnel photo at the start of this thread you can easily see the capping stones above the ashlar stone corbel row is dress in a coarser style, the MDF does not bring this feature up so I'm experimenting with a way of creating this cruder surface at the moment. I'll pop a few more pictures up once I get to the full on painting stage.
Hi Robyn, thanks also for the kind comments and your interest in my work it is very much appreciated. I personally don't own a laser cutter because I mainly out source requirements if I am not scratch building stuff, I used Philip Healey Pearce of Intentio Designs for the laser cutting... not cheap or quick on delivery but extremely good quality which is what I'm looking for. I think the cutter Philip uses is a large format Trotec ... probably about £6000 new, so yes its expensive.
They are correct Andy... by comparison they are a tad longer than the larger of the Elton Crossing signs you did for me. Don't forget the tunnel is tall ... I'd say from ground level to the topof the crown is over thirty feet high.
