Thanks everyone who commented on the footbridge.:tophat:
I`ve added some more to it today in the form of ridge capping and weathering.
The weathering is most obvious on the roof ,and the side panels have had a very light dusting at the moment, and I will probably add more after I`ve let it sit for a while.
The roof was first streaked with Black, Orange , White and Green Crayon to build a base layer of distress.
The ridge capping is made from A4 paper and was first coloured with a graphic marker. The marker tends to penetrate the paper and colour it right through.
The ridge capping was then coloured with a Black crayon followed by an Orange crayon streaked randomly along it`s length before being applied to the roof.
Once all was in place a heavy dusting of chalk pastel was added and brushed in and the result is as shown in the pics below.

And some overall views to put it into context.

Just as a matter of interest......this is what all of this started from 10 years ago

And now it looks like this

    And this end

    Now looks like this

I probably should do some guttering next.....I`ll have to check my guttering stocks....:scratchchin:

The only thing missing from this superb bridge is that you didn't test your sanity in drilling out all those holes in the valancing !!! Again, it looks fab ! Crayons ! now there is something I would not have thought of in modelling ! Great idea !

    Take a bow Gormo !

    Thanks Andy....:tophat:
I might do a tutorial on the crayon method......although it only works on card....:scratchchin:

    G`day Folks,
The railway has played second fiddle for the last couple of weeks as I have been preoccupied with family matters.
However in the last couple of days I did some work on a coupling variation I have been thinking about that will make my magnetic coupling system more user friendly, especially when assembling goods trains.
I have created a rotating coupling for my locos and brake vans which allows them to couple to any wagon or coach regardless of the polarity on that particular vehicle.
So it`s turned into a sort of hybrid system.

It`s shown working in the video below

Have you done a video on making these couplings yet Brian??

I guess it would be better if all the couplings rotated. Nice one Gormo.

    Not yet Ron,
A couple of other people have asked about this.
I will probably do one in the near future.

    Yes correct Brian,
But when you introduce that feature with the methods I use to make the couplings, it makes the wagons more difficult to uncouple.
I eventually found the right balance between just enough magnet strength to pull a train, yet still being easy to uncouple, using one magnet per coupling.
The rotating couplings use two magnets per coupling which increases the grip considerably and makes uncoupling with a shunters pole difficult.
So if we go back to basic principles, the couplings should be relatively easy to uncouple, so I think I will stick with the current system.

That all makes sense. It is a very good system. Looks good as well.

you may need a porta-power to uncouple them other wise Gormo:avatar::avatar::avatar:
