Yes I know I've got a bench full of kits to complete and other important stuff on the go as well but for the last couple of days I've needed something simple to do in order to escape the clutches of house renovation and all the noise that goes with such activities. So up into my Aladdin Cave stash I went for a rummage around and found this untouched Ian Kirk coach kit which proved to tempting to put back down, said kit is an early Thompson 52' 6" Semi Corridor Lavatory Composite which I'd near forgotten all about. Anyway its from Ian's "cut and carve" range so yesterday evening I started cutting and carving whilst my ears were still ringing to the sound of percussion drills. At some point this one will go into all over Crimson suburban livery.
Ok I'm sitting comfortably - could have given a bit more warning so I could get the popcorn in ........ I've yet to try these kits, but seeing Rob's build and another at Modelrail in Glasgow, i'm intrigued. Paul
They are the cheapest carriage kits on the market and fit them with etched bogies for better riding and super detail the underframes and they can be made to look impressive, however this is a back burner project as its back to those nose ends you printed as I've now figured out a way forward in that build.
I have just added another 4 of the Gresley 61'6" versions to my stash - a gent on the Guild sales and wants list email was selling quite a number recently that included wheels and buffers so I bought one of each variety that he had.
I think the same chap had some LMS Period 2 coaches and a couple of push-pull carriages for sale too as they came with wheelsets and buffers.
