    If it's a display model I personaly wouldn't weather it. I've used to do a fair few and was never asked to dirty it. Mind you with my painting abilities I never needed too.... :facepalm:

    Yea but your design skills in Inkscape makes up for that Steve... but then who am I to pass judgement. What I can say is the owner has given me first call on the paint presentation which I feel must be a collective forum decision, maybe a balance of opinions where a clean model is only slightly weathered but not to the point of being dirty? I'd go with that.

    I would personally say the slightest of muck... if it were on a bear plinth I’d say pristine.
    As it’s on a diorama, with some scenery to set the scene, I think it needs at minimum a little road dirt on the bogies if nowt else... and that would start to highlight detail.

    Better look the rail grime out Yorkie and a little light dust along the bottom of the body, a tad exhaust soot and you are there.:tophat:

    Well that's sorted then... rail grime, exhaust soot and light brake dust it is. Platform 1 has spoken.:lol:

    I have been working on a form tool for the bodies, and here is the result.


    Made in two parts - O gauge loco's are too big for my printer :whatever:

    The flat etched sheets are placed over the fan duct at one end and vent locating lugs at the other,



    Then bent over

    Today after a manic two weeks dealing with house renovations (yes in the plural as I've got a second one on the books... which is more make-over than knocking out and starting again) I finally got some time to look at the Class 26 cab assembly. One end is fitted internally and needs detailing, whats more (with a little tweaking) I got to test fit the windshield and cab roof against the brass bodyshell, all fits good I'm happy to report and with some body stopper to hide a few tiny joints and gaps everything will come together nicely. So now its pre-paint the cab desks then the cab detailing and glaze the side windows, I can then fit the front windshield and roof, complete the guttering and join strips, fit the discs then Maskol the glazing then prime the body. All this to be done and completed before Toto and Dundee arrive at Easter. Anyway here is a picture comparing cab front styles between D5310 alongside the BBT Hymek D7044 which has also had lost wax detailing added.
