I was recently asked to produce a stove for an O gauge signal box. I’d already done one but it was small and not very common, and with luck I’d already made a start on a replacement but for one reason or another, never continued with it until I was asked. Long story short, a 3D print of the stove arrived today from the gent who asked about the model. He had a surplus and kindly sent it to me. I’ve fitted it this evening in to my own model box. On the sprue. Painting up. Fitted Fitted Bobby on duty
In the big signal box there was such an item but that identical Sadia water heater came out of a small rental cottage next to St Mary's Catholic church at Compton Bank on Cheadle Road in Leek, the one fitted in the original Elton Crossing signal box was the result of a bit of an upgrade. No doubt the railway though in the wake of electrification that as a fringe box to Sandbach it was about time Elton was hooked up to the mains in the 1960's. Elton Crossing box was decomissioned in 1971 when the line was permanently closed as a result of a tanker train derailment near Hassall Green, apparently by then trains only ran in the Up direction towards Alsager Lawton Junction, Down trains going via the ex NSR Crewe avoiding loop to Gresty Lane.
