Well after a year away from the forum and my layout I am back and cracking on with some much needed scenery work. A new hillside and quarry area with Lots of Woodlands scenic scatter material, Noch and Miniature static grasses. Heki foliage and lichen, Rubberized horse hair and Woodlands Scenic Realistic Water. The plaster work has been painted with Vallejo acrylics.
Welcome back to the flock Steve, good to see the progress of your layout. Will be good to see trains running again across your viaduct.
thanks Kim, yes they should look rather good with the water beneath and a Ruston Bucyrus in the distance working the quarry.
Hi Steve, It's all looking good can't wait to see your trains running on your layout, Regards, Gloria.
With all the mayhem in the world I took the day to spend some time with the planes and trains. Ah Serenity Now.
Lovely detailed work again Steve. The airfield is starting to look very congested, has the fleet been grounded ? The lighting effects really make the scenes come to life.
Here's a link to a short video of the Hornby 9F that I fitted with a Zimo Sound Decoder. It did have a Loksound ESU V.4 in it but I wanted to put this one in instead. It was a bugger of a job to get it in though, but I feel it was worth the effort.
Moving on from the 9F two days ago, it was on to the Class 08..... As Kimbo knows, I really struggled with this one. It is probably the most complicated light fitting I have done on a loco. (Even the 1/48 F-14 Tomcat I lit was easier than this, and that had 26 nanos.) Anyway after many, many hours spent I finished it off tonight and am very happy with the end result. Now that it is done I will start work on the next loco tomorrow. I have plenty to choose from and plan to sell some of them once I have chipped and lit them. I have way too much rolling stock as well, but that's a different story. I will take some better photos tomorrow and put them up here. The easy F-14 Tomcat
BIRDS OF A FEATHER. After yet another year away from the forum I have finally made it back. I have been busy building model aeroplanes for people and have really done nothing on the layout. But I have cleared the workbench of the last model (a massive 1/48 Chinook) and settled down to painting some tiny little pigeons which I picked up on line. Despite the small size of the birds I really enjoyed painting them. It was quite relaxing really. I primed them with a Vallejo acrylic grey primer and then set about painting them with a Dark Sea Grey tail and head, Light Sea Grey wings, Black highlights and metallic green and metallic purple bands around the neck. I am pretty happy with the result and they will now be placed around the town square in a pigeonesque (is that a word) style. I also built some low relief warehouses from card, basing them on old woodshed buildings in Sydney and The Brewery buildings at Alton.
Good to see you back on the forum Steve. As always your attention to detailing is outstanding whether it be in 1:76 scale , 1:48 or 1:35 scale
Steve tells me that he’s looking for a new home and owner for his fabulous layout, so if your in the Sydney area and looking for a very nicely detailed oo gauge UK SR based layout and possibly some very nice Southern based railway stock it will be well worth contacting him via the forum.
